Key witnesses to speak: Following explosive testimony on Wednesday from U.S. ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland on U.S. President Donald Trump’s dealings with Ukraine, the House impeachment inquiry will hear today from David Holmes, a political counsellor at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv, and Fiona Hill, who said her National Security Council boss, John Bolton, cut short a meeting with visiting Ukrainians at the White House when Sondland started asking them about “investigations.” Those investigations have been described as an attempt by Trump to create a scandal for his political rival, Joe Biden. The second of 14 former top Czech communists on trial admitted to conspiring to overthrow the Communist government.
