Shooting outside store: The province’s police watchdog will have more to say today after a male was shot by one or more officers in the West End on Thursday. Another arrest in truck deaths: A 23-year-old man has been arrested in Northern Ireland in connection with the deaths of 39 people from Vietnam whose bodies were found in a truck in England last month. Another man from Northern Ireland has already been charged. Another is facing extradition from Ireland to the U.K., and several people have been arrested in Vietnam. The Associated Press reports. On Nov. 22, 1962: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that shooting had stopped along the Himalayan frontier between India and China, but sources said India was not planning to accept Red China’s terms for settlement of the month-old border war. A plan for building bridges and roads in Greater Winnipeg over the coming 25 years at a cost of between $100,000,000 to $200,000,000 was revealed; the plan would double the current 165 miles of major arterial roads and indicated sites for nine new bridges.
