On Oct. 13, 1921: The Manitoba Free Press reported that after a $1,200 bank robbery in Elie, two suspects fled and later surrendered to a posse; the two suspects were from Detroit and Toronto, respectively. A Winnipeg man the pair had allegedly hired to be their driver under false pretenses was found tied up in the bushes near Headingley. In London, at Irish peace talks, in the matter of recent killings in Galway both Sinn Fein supporters and Crown troops were found to have been at fault for breaking the terms of the truce.
