St. Boniface safe: St. Boniface residents learned Monday it’s safe to eat their garden-grown veggies and allow their children to play at Happyland Park. Manitoba’s sustainable development minister Rochelle Squires said an analysis of soil shows metal contaminants did not exceed recommended levels in residential or recreational areas. Some residents had previously been warned not to eat vegetables grown in their gardens after soil samples revealed high levels of lead, copper and zinc. Larry Kusch reports. READ MORE

Taché Promenade: The public is invited to attend an information session about the Taché Promenade project today at the Notre Dame Community Centre, 271 Avenue de la Cathedrale, from 6:30 p.m. 8:30 p.m. The project will improve public spaces and the riverfront area along Taché Avenue between Provencher Boulevard and Despins Street, and will feature a widened promenade-style walkway with a lookout elevated above the riverbank.
