On Oct. 25, 1944: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that United States carrier planes sank a large Japanese carrier and two cruisers, and damaged two other ships. Canadian troops hit German forces in foggy conditions near Schelde. The 2nd British Army and the 1st Canadian Army attacked at the British army’s western salient in Holland. Manitoba continued to make good progress in the 7th Canadian Victory War Loan, raising nearly $10 million in two days. READ MORE
