Crews battle blaze: Two people were injured in an early morning fire at a home on Prince Edward Street in Point Douglas, and it’s feared two others may have been killed the blaze. We’ll have more on this story later this morning.

Mansion murders: Details of a private investigation into the killings of a Toronto billionaire couple will be released today. The family of Barry and Honey Sherman hired lawyer Brian Greenspan to probe the case after initial media reports said police were treating the case as a murder-suicide. READ MORE

On Oct. 26, 1954: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that the U.S. Secretary of State felt the recent agreement signed in Paris would achieve a strong, unified Western European defence against possible aggression from the Soviet Union. British prime minister Winston Churchill rejected a Russian proposal to discuss the reunification of Germany. Winnipeg’s city council agreed to send nine identical Hydro tenders to the provincial Justice minister for an investigation to a possible combine — a deliberate cooperation of commercial interests to control prices — in the hydroelectric industry.
