Date with the Devils: The Jets face the Devils in New Jersey at 6 p.m. CT in their second game in two nights. Last night, the Jets gave up the game-winning goal with just over four minutes remaining in a 6-4 loss to the New York Rangers, and goalie Connor Hellebuyck allowed five goals on 31 shots. “I don’t know, it just seems like the puck was always in the wrong spot for me,” he said after the game. On Oct. 4, 1918: The allies fighting in the First World War had success on the west front, with the failure of the Germans to hold fortified positions leading to the possibility of a collapse of the German machine. French troops captured 2,800 prisoners and made an important advance to the northwest of Sommepy, in the Champagne region.
