King Charles is in Edinburgh today to accompany his late mother’s coffin on a procession through the heart of the Scottish capital to the cathedral where it will lie for 24 hours, allowing the public to pay last respects to the Queen.

On Sept. 12, 1927: The Manitoba Free Press reported two sisters, one 13 years old and the other a baby, were killed after being struck by car in front of their home on Lipton Street; a coroner was set to begin an inquest into the tragedy. Aviator Charles Levine said he was cancelling plans to make a trans-Atlantic flight from London to New York, and would instead make a flight eastward, once he had secured permission to fly over certain countries.
