Montessori milestone: The city’s first Montessori school is celebrating its 50th anniversary this month. Children’s House Montessori on Pacific Avenue is holding an open house and street party next Sunday to celebrate. Since it opened in 1967, about 20 more Montessori schools have opened in the city. On Sept. 18, 1911: The Manitoba Free Press reported that British statesmen deprecated the reciprocity agreement governing trade between Canada and the United States as being disloyal to Britain, but the mood in Canada was that Canada must look out for its own interests.
