Good morning.

Robert Murray, 59, had his knee replacement at Fargo’s Sanford clinic on Aug. 16 under the cross-border agreement with Manitoba’s Diagnostic and Surgical Recovery Task Force. But when the Woodlands resident returned home and sought subsequent treatment at his local emergency room, he said the on-call doctor wanted nothing to do with him. Katie May has the story.

In Ottawa, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to address Parliament for the second time since Russia’s invasion of his country began in February 2022. It is his first visit to Canada since 2019. The Canadian Press reports.

On the bright side

A 2-year-old girl who walked away from her home Wednesday in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula alongside two family dogs was found in the woods hours later that night sleeping on the smaller dog like a furry pillow, state police said.

On Sept. 22, 1978: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that most people downtown asked about city council’s decision to expand Winnipeg Arena to a minimum of 15,000 seats by October 1979 and lease it to the Winnipeg Jets for the next eight years were positive about the decision. A strike by 4,000 mail carriers affecting nine cities could also affect service in Winnipeg, where mail carriers would give 24 hours’ notice if joining the walkout.
