COVID-19 crisis: Dr. Brent Roussin, the province’s chief public health officer, is set to give one of his twice-weekly news conferences on COVID-19 this afternoon. Testing teachers: The provincial government told the Free Press results of COVID-19 tests done on teachers aren’t fast-tracked. People are asked at testing sites whether they are a transport worker, educator, child care provider or health-care professional to collect data, a spokesperson said. An EPA report provided ammunition for heath experts and anti-smoking activists seeking tougher smoking legislation. A tour operator offering war-oriented European tours said her relatives in Holland who had lived through the Second World War couldn’t understand North American fascination with the Nazi era. The Persian Gulf crisis edged closer to war, as Iraq’s president Saddam Hussein threatened to fire the first shot, targeting Middle Eastern oilfields and Israel.
