Study says…: The University of Manitoba will release a study examining how mental illness growing up can affect adults. Researchers focused on more than 60,000 Manitobans born in the early 1980s.
Full circle: The Winnipeg Indigenous Executive Circle, a coalition of 18 agencies and organizations, will be launched today at Thunderbird House. It “aims to increase the social, economic well-being of Winnipeg’s Indigenous people.”

On Sept. 27, 1932: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that Justice Frank Ford of the Supreme Court of Alberta was to head an inquiry into remarks reportedly made in criminal cases in Winnipeg County court by Judge L. St. G. Stubbs; at issue were remarks Stubbs allegedly made in a juvenile court case involving breaking and entering that when school boards shut off fall classes, it contributed to youths turning to crime and thus the school boards had a criminal responsibility. In international news, Japan would flatly refuse to accept any League of Nations proposal that ignored the independence of Manchukuo. READ MORE
