Battle for Cup continues: The Colorado Avalanche face the Dallas Stars in Game 7 of their second-round Stanley Cup playoff series this afternoon, while the Vancouver Canucks face the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 7 tonight after tying the series Thursday night. Game 7 between the Philadelphia Flyers and the New York Islanders is scheduled for Saturday after the Flyers won in double-overtime Thursday night. On Sept. 4, 1969: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that North Vietnamese president Ho Chi Minh, leader of Vietnam’s Communist-inspired nationalists for more than half a century, had died at the age of 79. In Manitoba, the minister for municipalities Howard Pawley told the legislature that a study was being made concerning integrating the port of Churchill with surrounding settlements, which could mean the port would get its own town council. Groups in a Montreal suburb clashed over the issue of continued use of English in schools.
