Raising awareness through ride: Because of the pandemic, the Riverview Health Centre Foundation’s Cycle on Life fundraiser is being held in September for the first time in its history. This year’s ride is dedicated to former Blue Bombers star Gene Lakusiak, who died at the health centre this summer. Lakusiak’s family says he believed multiple concussions in his playing days led to a diagnosis of probable Alzheimer’s disease. Doug Speirs reports. READ MORE
Open streets shut down: The city’s open streets initiative, where vehicle traffic was limited on 10 routes between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. seven days a week, ended Monday night. Four of the streets will have limited traffic on Sundays and holidays until Thanksgiving Day. READ MORE

In Winnipeg, MP Bob Bockstael said he would not attend a Liberal think-tank meeting in the city if its purpose was to question party leader Pierre Trudeau’s leadership.
