Environment Canada is calling for a 60 per cent chance of showers on a hot, humid Wednesday, but the sun returns Thursday and the weekend looks terrific, with temperatures in the high 20s.

Tragedy at Bloodvein: The driver in a fatal rollover Saturday that killed two teens and injured several others near Bloodvein First Nation blames herself for the crash as grieving families try to support each other, the community’s chief says. Two girls identified by friends on Facebook as Abwii-Giizis Kennedy,14, and Blossom Asia Scott, 13, were killed when the allegedly stolen pickup truck they were riding in with seven other young people rolled into a ditch about three kilometres outside of the First Nation early Saturday. Churchill feeling crunch: The northern town on the shore of Hudson Bay is beginning to feel the effects of a reduction in freight services, cutting its access to supplies — ranging from fresh food to lumber. The change comes from Omnitrax Canada, which announced its intention to cut freight services on its northern rail line in half last week, reducing shipments to one train per week from two. Sunday marked the first scheduled shipment to be cancelled since the announcement. READ MORE

Wheaties’ boss rolling dice: Kelly McCrimmon, a fixture with the Brandon Wheat Kings for more than a quarter century, is leaving the junior hockey club to join the NHL expansion team in Las Vegas.
