Good morning!
On camera, on the job: It’s the morning after a bizarre and potentially tragic situation in the heart of downtown Winnipeg. Around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, a woman stood at Portage and Main waving a gun in the air before pressing the muzzle against her head, but was tackled by a police officer before she or anyone else at the famous intersection was hurt. The incident was caught on camera, something that’s become commonplace in a world where everyone is carrying a smartphone. Winnipeg police are well aware their every move could wind up on Facebook. Your forecast: There’s some sizzle to this weather forecast. The temperature in Winnipeg is expected to hit 35 C, but a very humid air mass over the city will make it feel like it’s over 40. That’s prompted Environment Canada to issue a heat warning for all of southern Manitoba, and also advise that there’s a significant risk of thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight. On Thursday, expect a mostly sunny, breezy day and a daytime high temperature of 31 C, while Friday will be sunny and 30 C.
