Blank passports seized: Nine people were arrested in Manitoba as part of a large theft ring that stretched across Western Canada. As well as $300,000 worth of goods such as stolen vehicles, police found blank passports, blank birth certificates and RCMP uniforms. Südhof, Professor of Molecular and Cellular Physiology at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Stanford University School of Medicine.

Hillary vs. Donald: The third and final debate between presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump takes place today at 8 p.m. CT. The 90-minute debate is in Las Vegas, Nev., and will be moderated by Fox News’ Chris Wallace. Based on two previous debates, viewers can expect to hear bluster, lies, obfuscation and whining. Exclusions in LGBTQ community: Pride Winnipeg has apologized after it was criticized for being exclusively for white, middle-class gay men and lesbians. People who feel left out include the transgender crowd, people of colour, Muslims, immigrants and refugees, blind, deaf and physically challenged members of the city’s LGBTQ community. On Oct. 19, 1948: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that a federal-provincial inquiry had been launched into the conditions at displaced persons camps in Manitoba. The investigation followed reports in another Winnipeg newspaper that displaced persons at the camp near Emerson lived under conditions of “misery and squalor.” At the United Nations, Western powers agreed to resume talks concerning the development of atomic weapons.
