On July 20, 1967: The Winnipeg Free Press reported that Nova Scotia premier Robert Stanfield was heavily favoured to win the federal Conservative party leadership race; Manitoba premier Duff Roblin kept mum on his intentions regarding the race. A top-secret project authorized 13 years earlier to allow UFOs land at a 1,000-square-mile restricted area at Suffield, Alta., was revealed by the federal defence minister; however, no extraterrestrial flying objects sought to land at the designated area.
