Pyrenees pups need loving home

Happy Monday!

Winnipegger Bev Collins didn’t email last week just to tell me that my weekly, pet-friendly newsletter makes her smile.

I’m truly flattered, but more importantly the Ready, Pet, Go! subscriber also reached out to ask if I might be able to help out a pair of ill-fated fur balls that have found themselves back in rescue after their dedicated owner, a friend of Bev’s, passed away suddenly.

“Due to health issues I am unable to adopt them,” wrote Bev. “But I was hoping you could alert your readers of these dogs.”

You should know that Gabe and Krissy are four-year-old bonded Pyrenees mixes that, according to the hard working folks at the Manitoba Great Pyrenees Rescue, have “wonderful, loving, very friendly personalities.”

And like many four-legged critters, they also love to go for walks and take in a car ride or two.

So, if any of you dog lovers out there are interested in taking in an inseparable pair of lovely, large white pooches, contact the Manitoba Great Pyrenees Rescue.

Have a great week!

British Columbia phasing out mink farms because of COVID-19 spread

The threat that mink farms in British Columbia would become a “reservoir” for COVID-19 infections is too great a health hazard, prompting the government to phase out of all the farms, the provincial health officer says.

Looking for a home

Thinking of adopting a new pet? Be sure to check out this week’s adoptable pet.

Grogu is an eccentric and animated gentleman who made his way to the Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter back in a February amidst a cold snap. Despite being emaciated, dehydrated, and covered in frostbite, this determined boy made a beautiful recovery.
