'Significant burnout and distress'

Doctors are raising “serious concerns” about burnout, heavy workloads and distrust in the executive leaders who operate CancerCare Manitoba, a letter obtained by the Free Press shows.

Doctors Manitoba wrote to oncologists and hematologists at CancerCare last Friday inquiring about working conditions after the advocacy group was “contacted by a number of physicians raising serious concerns,” said the two-page letter.

'Getting worse and worse for the Liberals in Manitoba'

A Free Press-Probe Research poll found half of Manitoba voters who are decided or leaning towards a party would cast their ballot for the federal Conservative Party, while only one in five Manitobans support Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Liberals.

Fresh off signing a two-year bridge deal that carries an average salary of US$3.25 million, the 22-year-old received a round of stick taps when he ventured onto the ice with his teammates at Winnipeg Jets training camp on Tuesday.

A travel-inspired brunch spot has opened up in the former Marion Street Eatery location.

Pamela Holunga’s Roasted Nomad has a menu full of comforting breakfast and lunch staples, and the coffee bar includes hot and cold beverages with a twist, such as the Aussie-style iced latté (a vanilla iced latté with ice cream on top) and the cookies n’ cream hot chocolate.

Holunga’s goals for Roasted Nomad venture well beyond food and drink.

“I just want the community to thrive, I want to be a hub for people to gather,” she told food and culture writer Eva Wasney.
