Two women who accused Peter Nygard of rape want an inquiry to further explore, among other things, why charges were not laid in almost all cases reported in Manitoba, and whether any systemic changes are necessary.

Nygard was found guilty of four counts of sexual assault after a six-week trial in Toronto. He was acquitted of a fifth count and a charge of forcible confinement. He still faces charges in Winnipeg, Quebec and New York.

Osborne Village residents are raising concerns about a deterioration of community safety and an increase in crime in the neighbourhood after three people were injured in a random stabbing spree Sunday afternoon inside the Shoppers Drug Mart in Osborne Village.

Security staff approached a woman who had been acting suspiciously in the store, police said, and she produced a knife and stabbed three people while running toward the exit.

Police located a suspect near a riverbank encampment behind Roslyn Road. A 24-year-old woman is facing multiple charges; the three people who were stabbed were treated in hospital and are in stable condition.
