Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland presented the federal budget in the House of Commons today, pledging $53 billion in new spending that she says is focused on economic justice for younger generations.

The Liberal government met all its fiscal goals in the document, including keeping the $40 billion deficit from rising, even as it introduced tens of billions in new spending.

Three boys, all 17 years old, were arrested and charged with sexual assault Monday. The alleged charges stem from two hazing incidents involving five boys who were rookies on the Prairie Mountain Mustangs hockey team that occurred last November and January according to Manitoba RCMP.

Two of the accused will be charged with sexual assault with a weapon, sexual assault and forcible confinement, the other will be charged with sexual assault and assault when they appear in court.
