Good evening. Here’s a look at what our newsroom has been working on today:

Like many Canadian cities, Winnipeg has legislation aimed at keeping residents warm in the coldest months, but there are no such laws to keep people cool in the summer. As Manitobans suffer the impacts of new temperature extremes, some are calling for change to keep people safe.

A Winnipeg woman received a warning letter from the city about “unsightly” weeds on her property, within view of a fire-damaged derelict house which has been allowed to fall into ruin for almost two years.

And: Winnipeg Sea Bears star guard Teddy Allen has been through a lot — an abusive home life, losing his mom to cancer, and bouncing around five different college programs — but the 25-year-old, who is on track to be the league’s MVP this year, doesn’t want his past to define him.
