'New generation should be publicly owned'
NDP Finance Minister Adrien Sala appeared to pull the plug on Manitoba Hydro’s plan to meet increasing energy demand in the province through purchase agreements with independent power producers. Sala’s comments came in response to those made by Manitoba Hydro chief executive officer Jay Grewal on Tuesday when she suggested the utility is not interested in building major power generation projects, owing to its massive debt.

According to court records, Kevin Queau, the man charged with second-degree murder in the death of Crystal Saunders in Winnipeg in 2007 has a history of violence against women and was sentenced to five years in prison for choking two women in Vancouver.
