'We are just trying to get more answers'
University of Manitoba student Afolabi Stephen Opaso was experiencing a mental-health crisis when he was shot and killed by police inside a Fort Richmond apartment on the weekend, according to a lawyer who is assisting the man’s family.
“At this point we need more answers, more clarity as to how a normal call for help for someone who is having a mental-health episode would lead to them being shot,” Jean-René Dominique Kwilu said.
Police have said Opaso was shot in a “use-of-force encounter.”

Art on the move
If you’ve ever spent any time in the Manitoba Legislative Building in the weeks after a change in government, you may notice the buzz of activity taking place in the basement around the Provincial Art Collection office.
The office staff are moving large paintings around in preparation for an MLA or minister to drop by to select works to be displayed in their offices.
Photojournalist Mike Deal watched the art on the move.
