Dozens of tenants were forced to leave the Adanac Apartments in Winnipeg’s West End neighbourhood on Monday. An order to vacate the building followed a fire inspection that found numerous fire and safety issues at the apartment building, which provides housing for people with low-income, addictions and housing barriers.

Support workers were available to help connect displaced residents with alternate accommodation and other services, but many tenants didn’t know where they would end up. Critics worry some of the tenants will end up homeless.

The Law Society of Manitoba has barred two Alberta lawyers from practising in the province after receiving complaints they hired a private investigator to surveil a judge who was hearing a case involving COVID-19 public health orders.

True North Sports + Entertainment is looking to partner with Manitoba breweries to get local beers on tap at the Canada Life Centre and the Burton Cummings Theatre.

Winnipeg producer and musician Rusty Robot — who has worked with the Weatherthans, the Sheepdogs, J.D. Edwards Band, Sierra Noble and his own band, Imaginary Cities — has closed his studio and cancelled gigs to spend his time working to fight climate change.
