Good evening. Here’s a look at what our newsroom has been working on today:

'It’s really, really bad'

A woman critically injured in a mass shooting early Sunday has become the fourth fatality from the violence that broke out inside a West Broadway home.

Winnipeg police have identified the four killed; two of the victims were sisters. A fifth victim, a man who has not been identified by police, remains in hospital in critical condition.

The inner-city neighbourhood is reeling in the wake of the slaying.

'It hurts, and it’s beautiful'

Candace House, the Kennedy Street landing pad for families of homicide victims participating in the criminal court process, is marking its fifth anniversary this week.

The organization was created by Wilma and Cliff Derksen in memory of their daughter, Candace, who was 13 when she went missing on her way home from school Nov. 30, 1984. Her body was found about six weeks later.

Over the past five years, Candace House has helped about 1,300 people who lost loved ones in more than 140 homicides in Manitoba.

Blue Bombers head coach Mike O’Shea held a year-end press conference at IG field Monday, a little more than a week after the team’s heartbreaking loss in the 110th Grey Cup game in Hamilton.

“I imagine at some point down the road, even years from now, I’ll just, all of a sudden, let out some primal scream and say, ‘Damn! Had a chance.’” he said.
