Nadya Pankiw got her first taste of publishing at age 13 after joining forces with her Baba and illustrating her first children’s book.

At 17, the born-and-raised Winnipegger packed her bags and headed east to pursue a bachelor of journalism and humanities at Carleton University in Ottawa.

After reading her way through the literary canon and reporting during journalism internships — including three stints at the Free Press — Nadya set her sights on Vancouver and completed her master of publishing from Simon Fraser University in 2022.

Nadya joined the Free Press full time in 2020.

As the editor of audience growth, Nadya works to cultivate the next generation of Free Press readers by crafting strategy to foster media literacy among youth, creating posts for social media, and building partnerships with the education community.
