Four-legged baseball fans and their doting humans filled Blue Cross Park Aug. 17 for the Winnipeg Goldeyes’ eighth annual “Bark in the Park” novelty-themed game. The dogs weren’t the only special guests. Actor Bob Odenkirk, known for his titular role in Better Call Saul, threw the ceremonial first pitch at Saturday’s game. Read more about that here.
Actor Bob Odenkirk shakes hands with Goldie after throwing one of the two first pitches to kick off the game.For the first time, Goldeyes players wore special-edition dog jerseys featuring a collage of about 160 pet photos submitted by the dogs’ owners. The jerseys are set to be auctioned off at the remaining home games of the season, with the proceeds supporting the Goldeyes Field of Dreams Foundation. Proceeds from the 50-50 draw during the Aug. 17 game went to the Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter.
