Reporter

Morgan Modjeski is a news reporter and multimedia producer for the Free Press.

A University of Manitoba alumni, Morgan was born and raised in Winnipeg and has literally left blood, sweat and tears on the streets of this town.

Raised on the news and curious to a fault, Morgan loves the chase associated with the job and wakes up every morning with a strong desire to figure out what makes a community tick. He loves covering the complex systems that shape our society.

A lifelong reader of the Free Press, Morgan fell in love with newspapers at a young age, which resulted in him pursuing a life in journalism. Before joining the Free Press in 2026, he held staff positions at the Saskatoon StarPhoenix, the now-closed Metro papers and at Fort McMurray Today.  He’s also been a senior reporter at CityNews Winnipeg and worked the daily enterprise beat for the CBC in Saskatchewan.

His aggressive and tenacious approach to the job has been shaped by some of the best in the business and he thrives in a shoe-leather environment that leaves him ink-soaked and hungry for more.

When not chasing a scoop, Morgan loves to read and write, and he bikes 10 miles most days.
