January 17 @ 10:00 AM - January 18 @ 4:00 PM
Free

The University of Manitoba Philosophy Students’ Association is hosting a conference on the philosophy of AI and technology on January 17 & 18, from 10 AM to 4 PM on both days. The conference will feature six presentations by North American graduate students and two from our keynote speakers. Our first keynote is Dr. Duncan MacIntosh, a professor of philosophy at Dalhousie University, who will discuss ethical concerns regarding the use of AI in the military. Our second keynote is Dr. Karina Vold, an assistant professor of philosophy at the University of Toronto, who will discuss problems in aligning AI and human values.

The conference is free to attend and open to all. No background knowledge in AI or philosophy is required to get something of value from attending. Questions will be more than welcome! All activities will take place in room 240, University College, 203-220 Dysart Road, on the University of Manitoba Fort Garry Campus. Light fare and beverages will be provided during all breaks.

If you plan on attending, we ask that you fill out our RSVP form, accessible through the link below. The link will also direct you to a more detailed program schedule.
