The Manitoba Writers’ Guild “World Building Workshop” with Den Valdron

The Manitoba Writers’ Guild is presenting a “World Building Workshop” with Manitoba author Den Valdron. This workshop for writers deals with the literary craft of making a fictional world both believable and authentic. Topics deal with creating an engaging and compelling artificial world for the reader.

“World Building” Everyone thinks that’s for fantasy and sci fi. But mainstream writers, from Balzac, to William Faulkner, to Garrison Keiler build worlds, using consistent settings, interlocking characters and shared situations to built worlds for their readers.

This is a workshop that explores all aspects of world building, from the nuts and bolts of how a society works, to conveying a sense of realism and authenticity for your reader. What to do, what not to do, and why and how to do it.
