Progressive Conservative Pembina MLA Peter George Dyck said in a statement today he will not run in the Oct. 4, 2011 provincial election.
Dyck has been the MLA for almost 16 years.
“My wife Irene and I are opening another chapter in the book of life and taking a break from politics,” Dyck said in a statement.
Dyck was first elected in the 1995 general election and was re-elected again in 1999, 2003 and 2007. He served as a school trustee for 18 years prior before being elected to the legislature.
He will represent the Pembina constituency until the election.
Dyck is the second PC MLA to announce he won’t seek re-election.
Portage La Prairie MLA David Faurschou said recently he will not seek re-election.
