For a change I think there’s one thing we can all agree on.

We’ve all made stupid mistakes.

We’ve all done things that, on second thought, we’ve regretted.

Often they’re excused as what we more politely call lapses of judgment, and usually we deal with them where they happened.

In private.

Recently, though, there have been a series of those kinds of stories in the newspaper.

And all the stories beg the same question: What were they thinking?
