Dianne Casar

have been appointed to positions at the new Bruce D. Campbell Farm and Food Discovery Centre at the University of Manitoba’s Glenlea Research Station. The centre open in spring 2011.

 

Taren Gesell

has joined Sunpeak-Multiwise as a business development manager for the retail division. He will be responsible for promoting and marketing the company’s line of healthy food products.

 

Cathy Rocke

has joined the University of Manitoba Faculty of Social Work, as a lecturer. Rocke is completing her PhD at Arthur V. Mauro Centre of Peace and Justice and has 20 years’ experience as a social worker in child welfare and family violence.

 

Jesús Miguel-García

has joined the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra board. He is also a member of the Manitoba Ethnocultural Advocacy and Advisory Council and director of The Spanish Institute. His career in education spans 20 years, teaching in British and Canadian universities.

 

Barbara Bowes

Free Press columnist and president of Legacy Bowes Group, has launched her new book, Taming the Workplace Tigers, dealing with strategies and coping mechanisms to navigate the corporate ladder and work effectively with others. A book launch will take place at McNally Robinson Grant Park tonight at 7.

 

Gerald Bouchard

is the new president of Arne’s Welding Ltd., a trailer manufacturer in the gravel and construction industry. Bouchard replaces Bob Munro, who recently retired. Bouchard spent 25 years at Midland Manufacturing.

 

Dianne Casar

has attained her national event co-ordinator e-merit certification and designation from the Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council. The CTHRC, along with the Manitoba Tourism Education Council, co-ordinates the development of national occupational standards and practical training for aspiring event co-ordinators and event managers. She recently received an event management extension certificate from Mount Royal University. Casar is a founding member of Event Professionals of Manitoba.

Tara Maltman-Just

has been appointed clinical consultant pharmacist at CD Whyte Ridge Pharmacy. Maltman-Just is completing a fellowship for anti-aging and regenerative medicine and a masters degree in medicine with a concentration on metabolic and functional medicine. She joins Dennis Wong and his team to expand their clinical programs and consulting. Specialties include women’s health, hormone replacement, stress management, weight management and longevity medicine.

 

AWARDS

The Manitoba winners of the 2010 National Professional Truck Driving Championships are: Straight Truck: John Klassen, WM Dyck & Sons; Super B-Train: Ken Wiebe, EBD Enterprises; Rookie of the Year: Robert Archambault, Step Van Class, Bison Transport. Team Award: British Columbia. Grand Champion: British Columbia. The National Professional Truck Driving Championships are held every year to recognize Canada’s best transport truck drivers. The NPTDC was hosted by the Manitoba Trucking Association.

 

Rob Anderson

and Bayview Financial Group were recognized for Top Client Service and Top Business Growth by the Johnston Group at its bi-annual conference held this year. The conference was attended by the Top 100 group insurance advisers from across Canada associated with the Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance Plan. Anderson is president and financial consultant at Bayview.

 

Dan Ryall

of Fillmore Riley LLP has been appointed president of the Canadian Transport Lawyers Association. Founded 30 years ago, the CTLA has kept its members current on developments in provincial, federal and international law that affect Canadian, U.S. and cross-border shippers, carriers and freight intermediaries and all modes of transportation.
