Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 21/12/2009 (6029 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.
Who are they?
Villa Rosa Inc. It is a residential program for pregnant women in need.
What do they do?
It is a 25-bed facility that acts as a residence for young, single Winnipeg mothers or expectant mothers, and a school. There is also an apartment block next door where residents live semi-independently while going to school.
Their Christmas hope
That every pregnant woman, mother and child feels the love and support from those around her.
In their own words
Villa Rosa is a not-for-profit organization that has been caring for young, single mothers and their babies for 111 years in Winnipeg. The agency offers a safe and healthy environment during pregnancy and the opportunity for the mother to continue her education. As well, counselling, parenting programs, adoption support and pre-natal classes are offered. After the baby is born, there is an independent-living program in an apartment block next door where mothers continue to come to Villa Rosa for school and programs while learning independent-living and parenting skills. Every day is Mother’s Day at Villa Rosa!
How you can help
Villa Rosa accepts financial donations as well as personal-care items and new or gently used baby items. People wishing to volunteer are also welcome to apply. For more information, or to drop off your donations, please call 786-5741 or check the website at www.villarosa.mb.ca.
