The Winnipeg Blue Bombers might be moving to a new stadium next season, but the club isn’t going anywhere on the radio dial.

Prior to the Eastern final, the organization announced they have extended the agreement with CJOB 680 to continue as the radio broadcast rights holder for the Blue Bombers. Bombers play-by-play man Bob Irving, a CFL Hall of Fame member on the media side, has been covering the team for nearly four decades.

The announcement came in the lead up to the Bombers taking on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at a chilly Canad Inns Stadium Sunday.

“The Winnipeg Football Club is very thrilled to have extended our agreement with Corus Entertainment. CJOB has been the voice of sport in this province for decades, and we’re excited to inform our fans that Blue Bomber football on your radio can only be found on CJOB 680 for years to come,” Bombers president Jim Bell said in a statement.

“The seven-year commitment demonstrates CJOB’s long-term desire to be a part of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.”

“CJOB 680 is honoured to be the home of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in Manitoba for most of the last five decades. Nothing stirs the passion of sports fans like the Blue Bombers, and we are thrilled to continue to be the voice of this storied franchise for the next seven years,” CJOB general manager Garth Buchko said in a statement.

“There is currently a tremendous amount of excitement about the Blue Bombers both on and off the field, and CJOB/Corus Entertainment look forward to the added excitement that will come with the opening of a new home for the team next season.”
