Winnipeg's favourite moose is back in town and being fitted for a extra-extra-large Jets jersey.

The Jets announced Friday night the NHL hockey franchise is recalling Mick E. Moose from the American Hockey League.

Jets officials say the hard-working mascot is a fan favourite who, with the Manitoba Moose, averaged more than 100 community appearances per season for the past 15 years in Winnipeg and rural Manitoba. So it was a no-brainer when the team was choosing an animal ambassador.

"We explored dozens of mascot concepts and drawings," said Norva Riddell, senior vice-president of sales and marketing for the Jets.

"Ultimately, the fact that Mick E. Moose seemed to connect and resonate with so many of our young fans over the past 15 seasons kept bringing us back to our history and the possibility of retaining him as our mascot."

Mick E. Moose will debut with the Jets on Sunday.
