Four people accused of a home invasion have also been linked by police to 11 different break-ins which resulted in about $100,000 worth of property and vehicles stolen.
Winnipeg police Const. Rob Carver said today that the four were spotted driving a stolen Honda Pilot in the 300 block of Magnus Avenue by general patrol units on Friday.
Carver said the four were arrested, and then linked not only to a home invasion in the 300 block of Redwood Avenue on Friday at about 9:15 a.m., but also to a robbery of a woman walking around Alexander Avenue and Blaine Street on Wednesday at about 12:15 p.m., and 11 different residential and commercial break-ins between May 6 and 13.
During the home invasion, three people with covered faces and armed with knives forced their way into a home and confronted four women. None of the women were injured and the three fled with a small amount of personal property.
The woman was confronted with four people, one armed with a knife, and was forced to turn over personal property to them. She was able to flee without being injured.
The break-ins occurred: in the first 100 blocks of Athlone Drive, Agnes Arnold Place, Arthur Wright Crescent, Marygrove Crescent, and Waterfront Road, the 700 block of Adamdell Crescent, the 1800 block of Ellice Drive, and the 200 block of Tu-Pelo Avenue. As well, there were break-ins in the first 100 block of Diane Drive in West St. Paul, the 500 block of Spruce Drive in the RM of St. Clements, and the 5000 block of Hwy. 9 in Lockport.
Carver said about $100,000 worth of property and vehicles were stolen during the break-ins.
Kyle Bradley Desmarais, 23, Conrad Victor Staples, 23, Levi River Woodhouse, 18, and Taylor Starr Fontaine, 19, have been charged with 11 charges of break, enter and theft, two counts of robbery, and one disguise with intent.
All four have been detained in custody.
