A Gillam man has been ordered to stand trial for the murder of his 13-month-old foster child.

RCMP say Roderick Blacksmith, 32, will be tried for second-degree murder for the November 2008 death of Cam Ouskan.

The ruling was issued following a preliminary hearing in provincial court.

Police said Blacksmith is scheduled to appear in Thompson Provincial Court April 11 to set a date for trial.
