Booth College is changing its name.
What formally was known at the Catherine Booth Bible College in 1982 will formally change its name to the Booth University College during a ceremony Friday at 11 a.m., at the downtown campus, 447 Webb Place.
Advanced Education Minister Diane McGifford will attend the ceremony, along BUC president Donald Burke, and William Francis, territorial commander of the Salvation Army in Canada and Bermuda.
Although BUC is the premier educational institution for the Salvation Army, 90 per cent of Booth’s Winnipeg campus students have no connection with the Salvation Army.
In the past year, BUC offered new degree programs in English and Film Studies, Behavioural Sciences, Religion, General Studies and Business Administration. It also as a Bachelor of Social Work program.
