It’s not a good year for Manitoba schools in Maclean’s magazine’s annual university rankings.

The University of Manitoba is again 15th out of 15 large universities with medical schools, the seventh straight year that U of M has finished last in the rankings.

In the category of primarily undergraduate universities, the University of Winnipeg dropped from eighth place to 10 among 22 schools, and Brandon University dropped four places from 13th to 17th.

Many universities, including some of the highest-ranked schools, have criticized Maclean’s methodology, primarily the heavy emphasis placed on the reputation of each school among other universities, business leaders, and high school guidance counsellors.
