Hey there, time traveller!

THANKS to the snow, Operation Red Nose is busier than it’s been for the last few years and could use a few more volunteers.
The program organizers need at least 15 to 20 three-person teams each night, and on New Year’s Eve, they need all the help they can get.
Rides are free, but donations are welcome. This year, they hope to top the nearly $21,000 collected in Winnipeg in 2009. If you need a ride or want to volunteer, call 947-NOSE or go online at www.safetyservicesmanitoba.ca/ rednose.
If you’re lucky, you’ll get to hang out with the hardest-working volunteer of all — Rudy, the program’s giant reindeer mascot, as played for the last two years by 20-year-old former Manta swimmer Sean Armstrong.
“Every night Red Nose is running, me and a couple of volunteers head out to local bars to do publicity stuff,” Sean said. “People will just scream and rush over to take pictures. You’re definitely sweating in this outfit.
“My record is losing seven pounds in one night. But it’s a lot of fun and it’s worth it.”
