Hey there, time traveller!

RICK Borotsik, PC MLA for Brandon West, will not seek re-election in October 2011.
Borotsik, who was first elected to public office in 1978, said he wants to spend more time travelling and enjoying time with his family.
“This wasn’t a decision that one makes just overnight,” Borotsik said.
Borotsik, 60, will serve as Brandon West MLA until the Oct. 4 election.
The gregarious Borotsik was first elected to public office in 1978 as a councillor. He was elected mayor of the City of Brandon in 1989 and served in that job until he was elected as an MP for Brandon-Souris in 1997, serving until 2004.
In 2007, Borotsik was elected MLA for Brandon West, taking the seat from NDP incumbent Scott Smith by 56 votes. Since that time he has served in the Official Opposition with portfolios ranging from Finance to Manitoba Hydro, Entrepreneurship, Training and Trade and Innovation, Energy and Mines.
“It has been fun,” he said. “It would have certainly been a lot more fun if we had been in government. The one regret that I have is I honestly believe in my heart of hearts is that we will form government next time. It would have been nice to play a role in that, but it’s four more years. Four years is just a long time to take out the time I need to fulfil my ‘bucket list.’ “
Borotsik is preparing himself to be a doting grandfather. “The road from Brandon to Winnipeg gets longer and longer all the time,” he said.
The PC Party does not have anyone immediately to fill Borotsik’s shoes.
