Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 14/03/2011 (5586 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.
With the help of Kevin and Erica at Tactica Interactive, we’re proud to launch an innovative t-shirt in support of the Canadian Red Cross and its efforts to aid in the aftermath of the Japan Earthquake and Asia Pacific Tsunami.
The $20 PRAY FOR JAPAN t-shirt features a QR Code. Scanning the shirt with a smartphone (I use the ScanLife app on BB) will take you to the Canadian Red Cross’s mobile giving site, where you and your friends can make an online donation.
If you’re wearing the shirt, you’re a walking donation outlet.
We’re also launching a special second PRAY FOR JAPAN design exclusively for kids. We’ll keep you posted on that design and be releasing information on the special artist soon.
Shirts will be available Monday evening. Locations will be determined today.
We will also be receiving word this morning from Lucy Yamashita President, Manitoba Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre, about an event they’re hosting on the 20th.
THE NEED FOR SUPPORT:
On Friday March 11, 2011, an 8.9 magnitude earthquake hit Japan. This has triggered 4 metre waves in Japan and tsunami warnings across the Pacific coastline, including British Columbia. Hundreds of people are reported dead, and many more are injured or missing. The earthquake has caused fires and severe damage to buildings, leaving 4.4 million households without electricity. The Japanese Red Cross has deployed medical tents and 82 medical teams to the affected area. Volunteers are on the ground providing first aid and search and rescue operations.
