Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff will make his first local campaign stop this evening and is expected to make an announcement about child care tomorrow in Winnipeg.

Ignatieff will be at the Franco Manitoban Cultural Centre, 340 Provencher Blvd., for a town hall discussion tonight. The doors open at 7 p.m. and the program begins at 7:30 p.m.

St. Boniface used to be a solid Liberal riding until Tory Shelly Glover won it in 2008. Former Grit MP Ray Simard is trying to win it back.

Ignatieff is also expected to announce parts of his child-care platform at the day care in the Lord Roberts Community Centre first thing Thursday morning. That’s in the Winnipeg South Centre riding where MP Anita Neville is up for re-election.

Then, Ignatieff will stop by Kelekis Restaurant on Main Street just before lunch to glad hand with rookie Liberal MP Kevin Lamoureux, who is trying to stave off an NDP challenge in Winnipeg North.
