WINNIPEG — Crews continue work this morning on a train that derailed at Symington Yard Thursday evening.
At about 6 p.m., 10 cars went off the rails at Symington Yard during normal yard operations, said CN Prairie spokesman Warren Chandler last night.
Nobody was injured in the incident and it is not yet known why the cars derailed. But one toppled car was leaking gasoline into the yard, Chandler added. CN crews responded quickly to the derailment and to get the mess cleaned up.
The rail yard is located just off of Lagimodiere Boulevard near Fermor Avenue. It is not yet known what caused the derailment or how much gasoline may have leaked into the yard, and an investigation is continuing.
