MTS and Free Press partner on flood channel

If you want to see Free Press flood coverage and MTS flood cam footage on your TV, you can now tune in to channel 31 on the MTS TV system to get updates as they happen.

MTS and the Free Press have partnered to offer televised flood coverage to MTS television subscribers. The dedicated channel went live Thursday morning.

“We feel it is important to provide Manitobans with timely and accurate information regarding the flooding in Manitoba,” said Kelvin Shepherd, President, MTS. “Not only will our customers be able to stay up to speed on the latest flood developments, but they will be able to watch the river rise by viewing our MTS Rivercams which have been set up along affected waterways throughout southern Manitoba.”

“This is a great example of businesses working together for a common goal,” said John White, deputy editor, online for the Free Press. “We all came at it from the approach of what’s best for the end user.”

The channel incorporates Free Press video footage and live video from the eight MTS flood cams also available on this site. It also features photos by Free Press and Brandon Sun photographers, viewer and reader-submitted photos, and a feed of Free Press flood-related news stories. Each of the flood cams will have a dedicated channel, as well.
