Winnipeggers will have to order the white pages if they want them this year — but they’ll still get the yellow pages delivered as usual.

Winnipeg’s Yellow Pages Group, which compiles and prints both residential and business phone directories in cities coast to coast, issued a bulletin with a phone number for Winnipeg today.

YPG rolled out the same policy last year in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, the Ottawa area and Quebec City.

Canadians are turning more to online and mobile services such as Canada 411 for residential phone numbers. YPG is so sure people won’t call that they expect to print 500,000 fewer books of white pages this year.
