GAME BALLS
Offence
No one jumps off the page, but let’s hand it to Bombers SB Terence Jeffers-Harris, who pulled down five catches in the middle of a tough Argos defence for 58 yards. He took a few licks, but no drops for Jeffers-Harris. That’s an important stat for the Bombers attack.
Defence
When Joe Lobendahn nailed Argos QB Cleo Lemon for a sack in the second quarter, it put an exclamation point on a great first half from the Winnipeg defence. Joe-Lo helped keep RB Cory Boyd in check, finishing the game with two fumble recoveries, two sacks and seven tackles.
Special Teams
Bombers KR Jovon Johnson gets the nod here for not only his return skills — which he displayed in the form of a 58-yard night (despite the Argos excellent kick coverage) — but also his ability to serve as a holder for K Justin Palardy. His steady hand helped contribute to 13 Bomber points.
CRITICAL NUMBER:
7
The number of sacks generated by the relentless Winnipeg defence. LB Joe Lobendahn, DT Doug Brown, and DE Odell Willis each led the way with two QB takedowns apiece.
Argos QB Cleo Lemon was sore after this one.
FAN-O-METER
Argos kick returner Chad Owens was hearing it from the partygoers in Section S all night. The ‘Owens Sucks’ chant was a popular song, belted out by the Bomber faithful whenever the talented Toronto speedster ran by. Guess what fans were singing when Owens fumbled three times in the game?
